Design statement - Sky's the Limit:
This project aims to revive agriculture in an urban neighbourhood, with community participation being the central focus. The use of collective kitchens, vertical modular gardens, and kitchenless apartments will help to reinstate knowledge of the key agricultural and culinary skills that are required to bring food from farm to table in an interactive setting. The vertical modular garden aims to provide self-sufficiency in growing produce to combat issues with sustainability emphasised by imported and processed fresh goods, all while decreasing waste production and costs for fresh produce at local markets. Furthermore, the intended use of kitchenless apartments is to encourage residents to utilise the collective kitchen and dining space, in order to have a shared culinary experience with the neighbourhood. Importantly, residents are provided job opportunities on site to increase their income, thus creating a place of entrepreneurship and a chance for economic recovery post covid-19.
