This project aims to create spaces that allow people to break from the capitalist rhythm of the city,
and to indulge in activities that are not appropriate in business environments. The overall building composition reflects the forms of buildings intended for mass production and consumption throughout history. The building materials represent buildings through time, and how more transparency has lead to cities with lack of privacy or for adhering from capitalistic behaviour.

Material 1: The Solid Brick

The industrial revolution had turned economies that relied on agriculture into economies based on large scale production and industries, creating factory systems for mechanised manufacturing.

The building composition of these factories were thus defined as solid (brick façade) with high ceilings to cater for machinery and maximum space for production.

Material 2: The Transparent Glass

Capitalism contributes to the structures and designs that dominate our contemporary cities. Our current spaces and structures within the city are defined by the capacity for production and consumption, and by its level of economic efficiency.

Modern cities are dominated by skyscrapers with glass facades and a lack of greenery and private spaces to increase production and consumption.

Material 3: The Opaque Screen

Opaque screens are a tribute to both sides of our built history, the transparent and the solid. The in-between is a beautiful mesh of both sides, offering individuals the access to natural light and privacy, the equation needed for individuals to focus on their mental and emotional wellbeing in a bustling city.
